FAKRA is the
acronym for the German word "Fachkreis Automobile", which can be
translated as "Automotive Working Group". The FAKRA connector
standards were developed by a panel of the German Automobile Manufacturers
Council, covering the design of the connector interface and its mechanical and
electrical characteristics. At present, major automobile manufacturers and
suppliers of automotive communication and entertainment application systems
worldwide are gradually accepting the standards.
